  Deleting a topic is not a supported operation right now. Not only topics are not deleted - the feeds for the topic are not either, so you are still monitoring/aggregating mentions for the topics you deleted.

  Topic removal and suspension is planned for the next release.

  that is the terms in the taxonomy are not deleted. Since they are entered based upon the topic I believe they should be deleted when that topic is removed.
